so i'm just a little behind.

We surprised Melissa and took her to T.C. Eggingtons for a mini baby shower. She has had her precious baby, Lucy, since then and I am so excited to see her over the break!!!!
Kate was giving high fives after she successfully hit the panata!!
I just couldn't resist this sweet picture of Molly. I think she was mentally preparing for the panata.
The boys playing a little football on Thanksgiving!
Just hanging out with the girls!!!

It was so fun to be home over Thanksgiving and to have the time to spend with family. Just a few more days and I'll be with them again!!!

Just around the corner....

One week from today, just around the corner, I will be basking in the Arizona sun for Thanksgiving break!! It's so weird to me because for some reason I feel like I should be going home for Christmas break. Possibly it's because I have already started listening to Christmas music, or rather because BYU has already decorated for Christmas with trees, decorations, presents, and lights strung on the trees. Regardless of what it feels like, I am so excited for the break! It's been getting colder here and the nice 70 degree weather is sounding very nice to me right now.

Life is good right now....school is pretty busy, but overall, life is good, no complaints!!!!! :)

This is how i feel right now!!

Missing them already!!

Just wanted to say thank you to mom and dad for coming to visit us in Provo this weekend. We loved having you guys here and already miss you. I'm so so so glad Thanksgiving is in a few weeks so in no time at all we'll be in AZ!!!! Thanks for everything and we're so glad you got to come :)

10 things we did :)
pumpkin jamba
observing in the preschool
making choc cake cookies with every possible chocolate chip
coming to my ward
the mall
making dinner
talking
laughing
pizza pie cafe
running in the fieldhouse

They turned out...for the most part :)

So although I am still not a pro seamstress, I'm improving. I have to be honest though, I'm really looking forward to my sewing class coming to an end this semester. I have come to the conclusion that I am going to like sewing as soon as I don't have to be graded on every tiny little detail anymore. Although I'm learning a lot and know these sewing classes have been good for me, I can't wait to sew for fun and not for a grade!!I should just learn to love it, so I guess i'll keep trying...haha! Speaking of sewing for a grade, a couple weeks ago I finished my sweatshirt.

You'll notice my pockets are a little off, which is why you'll see the pin I made in attempt to cover up the mess of un-matching pockets haha.

My next sewing project consisted of halloween costumes. One piece of advice....never sew something (especially a piece of clothing) without a pattern. Luckily my friends were not too picky and I was able to figure out how to sew - what we like to call a 'tube' - for our crayon costumes. Unfortunately, some of the costumes did not fit as we had hoped, but thank goodness for staples, those costumes could be fit to any size, shape, or form of a body, in no time at all!!

We had a fun night and loved going around together as a box of crayons!!!

Sometimes I like to dream.

Do you ever find yourself lost in a daze, dreaming about how you imagine your life in the future?

As I got ready for church and put in my fake pearl earrings, I had one of those moments.

I pictured myself married to my prince, leading a simple, 'Leave it to Beaver' lifestyle where I lived in a small house and knew all of my neighbors. I was home cooking and cleaning dressed in my pearls and ruffly apron, waiting anxiously for my children to come home from school where I would sit and talk to them about what they learned and did that day. I saw myself crying with them as they told me about the crude and negative things going on in the world around them. I saw myself sitting in the bleachers next to my prince, cheering our children on in basketball games and tennis matches, and telling them they did a fabulous job at their piano recitals, even when they messed up a number of times . I saw myself tucking them in at night after teaching them how to pray. I saw myself emotional after sleepless nights rocking crying babies. I saw myself busy. I saw myself happier than I've ever been.

Is that too much to ask, I thought to myself.

It never hurts to dream.

My first time...

So this week has been a very hectic and busy week, and I am happy to say that I survived it. One of the best things I got to do was set up for Paige's bridal shower. I have never had to decorate or even put on a shower for someone, so now I can officially say that I've done it and because of it, I have discovered a new love.....a love for decorating parties!!! Here are some pics of my first time :)

i think the water bottles were my favorite :)

I can now officially say I have hiked the Y....

So last night I officially hiked the Y. I still can't believe it's taken me this long to do it, but I'm happy to say that I can now be considered a true BYU student. Surprisingly enough, it was a nice little hike. We went while it was dark out so that we could take advantage of the Y being lit for Homecoming....if only it could stay lit year round!!!!!

It's out!!

David Archuleta's new Christmas album was released TODAY for those of you who didn't already know. Yes it has some beautiful songs on it. Yes I already bought it. And YES I'd marry him if I could!!!

P.S.....This weekend I hung out at his next door neighbor's house in Murray, UT. Unfortunately he didn't know I'd be there so we couldn't arrange to see each other. Too bad, maybe next time ;-)

3 things...

Today I have a few things on my mind. The first being the crest white-strips I just got with my leftover birthday money. For some reason I love it when people have bright white teeth, and so that is my goal. I'll keep you updated with how white they are looking :)

The second thing on my mind is my glitter fingernails and toes. This weekend I got together with the girls one night and we painted nails while watching the Hannah Montana movie. All I have to say is it doesn't get much better than that!!! I think I got my friends hooked on glitter nails. Just today I was sitting with Maren in the library and in the middle of studying she leans over to me and says how her glittery fingernails always catch her off guard and she just loves to sit and look at them. I love them too. If you've never done it before....i recommend you give it a try. You won't regret it because it'll only give you something to smile about :)

The third thing on my mind comes from a recent addiction realization. Well, okay, so maybe it's not a recent thing, but it's gone to the extreme. The other day I was looking around my room only to see 2 water bottles on my dresser, one on my nightstand, one in my backpack, and one in my purse. I think there is something wrong with this picture. But I just can't help myself. Maybe one of these days I'll learn to drink an entire bottle....but what's the fun in that?

the inability to sleep....

Although I am feeling a complete turn around and will be ready this morning to head back to school, I keep tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep this morning. I admit, sometimes when it takes me longer than a couple minutes to fall asleep I get rather frustrated and automatically think I'm not going to fall asleep, I get restless and impatient, and get out of bed. So maybe that's the case this morning, or maybe it's not? Possibly my 6 hours of sleep tonight was sufficient for today considering I took a nap yesterday. I guess the way I feel today will determine :)

So I have been debating posting this next section on my blog. I just checked NieNie's updated blog and realized at the very end of her post she has made a link to Elder Scott's talk from this General Conference (one of my favorites by the way). After recently realizing just how many people from around the world are looking at her blog especially since her air on the Oprah Show, and how she continues to share her testimony in a simple way, I can and should do the same. I can't remember who's talk it was, possibly Elder Bednar's, who encouraged us to share our testimonies with our families and friends. I know for a fact that I do not take very many opportunities to do so, so this morning I'd like to share a part of mine.

Earlier this week I was studying the power or prayer. I read specifically about the Nephites turning to prayer for strength in Alma 58:10. It says they poured out their souls that God would strengthen them. Then if you go on to verses 11-12 we see the results of that mighty prayer and how the Lord did truly 'speak peace to their souls and did grant unto them faith and hope.' After reading these few versus it really got me thinking about my own life and the way prayer has had an effect on me. I have always tried to be in constant communication with my Heavenly Father and have always known that He is listening to me, but until recently I didn't know just how powerful His love for each one of us truly is and the extent to which He is answering our prayers on a daily basis.

As many of you know, a couple months ago I was struggling to know if I should come back up to BYU for school. It was a couple weeks before I was to fly up and I had no desire to come. I was scared and didn't feel like I fit in at such a large and competitive atmosphere. I had my comfort zone in Arizona with friends that I felt like I could be myself around. I didn't want to leave that, only to go to a place where I felt intimidation surrounding me constantly. I truly needed guidance to know if I was having those feelings for a reason (which at the time I thought meant I should transfer to AZ).

I prayed. I prayed hard. I remember wanting to have my answer right away, but that was not how my answer should come. I can remember sitting on my bed reading about how to feel the guidance of the spirit because at the time I thought I just didn't know how because I wasn't receiving my answer. My dad came into my room and I began to cry and express my concern in not receiving an answer. He gave me heartfelt counsel that a good dad should give to a daughter. He then counseled me to look into my other options if I were to stay in Arizona, like checking if my credits would transfer, how long it would take to graduate, what major would I choose, and so on. It's interesting though, because looking back on this, I can remember sitting there thinking to myself, "Oh, I don't really want to transfer, I just don't want to go back to Provo." Little did I know, I had received my answer many days before this, I just hadn't realized it yet, and my Heavenly Father knew that. After all, fear is not of the spirit. Dad then gave me a blessing and for that I am still grateful for. He is an inspired man who honors his priesthood. He wants what is best for each one of his children, and I knew that very day that all he wanted to do was to tell me to just come back to provo, but he knew that I needed to receive revelation for myself and come to know what was best for me, even though he may have already known.

A few more days went by and for some reason I was getting excited to come back to Provo. It seemed like all my nerves had diminished. It was then that I knew my Heavenly Father was listening. He knew I was concerned and scared. He knew I needed to come back to Provo. He knew I needed a change of heart because I wanted to do what He had in store for me.

I didn't have a roomate, I didn't like my ward and none of that seemed to matter to me anymore. I wanted to come up because deep down I just felt like everything was going to work out. I felt like for one of the first times in my life, I had the ability to exercise faith not knowing the outcome. I just knew everything was going to work out.

It's interesting because this has been one of the best semesters of college so far for me and I know it's in answer to prayer. The Lord is guiding each one of our lives and we cannot let the fear of Satan step in and get in our way. God loves each and every one of us and is constantly listening to our prayers and wants us to be happy. I know if I would have stayed in Arizona I would have been happy, but I don't know that I would have been this happy.

I'm grateful for the gift of prayer and the blessing of strength that does come from it. I know it's real. I know that when we take a step forward in the direction our Heavenly Father is trying to guide us, we will never be left on our own.

I ventured outside today!

So for the past couple days I have been sick with the flu and have tried to stay in my room, in attempt to keeping everyone else in the house healthy. After staying inside ALL day yesterday, my body needed a bit of 'outsideness' to stay sane. So today I got in my car and drove to the drive thru car wash to cleanse my car of the past few rainstorms. It was beautiful outside. I had almost forgotten what a pretty time of year this is up here. You don't really get a sense of the beauty when you're cooped up in the same room for 24 hours, which is why I needed to get out today, and I'm grateful I did!

Conference weekend...

How blessed we are to have such an amazing prophet and leaders of this church. I love General Conference and am already looking forward to April. This Saturday morning I had some friends over for breakfast while we watched the morning session....

Then we headed up to Salt Lake City where we stayed with Maren's parents for the weekend. It was fun to get out of Provo for a day or two and be in the Salt Lake area for conference!!
Last night us three girls went on a triple date to the haunted house in SLC. Can I just say that haunted houses kind of creep me out. It's those people that get up all close to you and follow you around making weird sounds that get me!!! But it was fun nonetheless! I'd never been on a date with these girls so it was a great time being with them!!

But now it's back to reality and the Sunday blues are kicking in.

A new addiction...

So I have to admit that I have a new addiction, and yes it's another craft. So I mentioned how this week I learned how to make some cute pins and headbands, and I decided to create some more this past friday. I should've been working on homework, but instead I figured it was the weekend, so why not craft??? I went to JoAnns and found some super cheap/sale fabric and a glue gun, and went to work. Here is what I created....I know it's nothing special yet, but I was just experimenting and am loving figuring out how to make these new fun things!!

Excuse the above shot...i couldn't resist.

This blue flower was fun to make. It involved burning the edge of the fabric in order to make it curl up like a rose :)

I think this week I'll work on headbands if time permits! Stay tuned for more pics!

My life....

I'm very content with my life right now. Here are the reasons why...

1. I just finished folding my clean laundry and am now sitting on my bed while listening to NSYNC.
2. I went to kickboxing tonight.
3. I am almost finished with my interior design project.
4. General Conference is this weekend.
5. I'm going to Sandy in the morning for a conference for all the FACS educators instead of going to class!
6. Rochelle and Kelly are coming to stay the weekend with me.
7. I learned some WAY cute ways to make headbands/pins last night at enrichment.
8. I found a new recipe on picky-palate that I loved!
9. Kris Allen has a new single out.
10. I have the best roomates...........

For those of you who look at my blog.....I am still alive!!!

So I have once again made a goal to start blogging again, shocker I know!!! Well I am back at BYU and can hardly believe I just started my fourth week of school already!!! Here is just a glimpse of a few things I've been up to lately....

Maverick.....only one reason I go.....Frozen yogurt ice cream cones!! Sometimes I even go alone, and now that I'm off sweets (except frozen yogurt), I frequent maverick stops more than I probably should.

All the girls meeting up at a bonfire!!

Britt and I making hummus. This was our second round of doing it and I highly recommend homemade hummus instead of store bought!!! YUM!!

I have also starting to cook this semester. I guess you could say I've always been afraid of cooking, and not afraid of baking, but believe it or not, I am beginning to overcome that fear. This past week I made chicken curry one night, and then a shredded southwest chicken and bean soup another night. I have decided I am loving cooking and am already coming up with new things to make as soon as I have time for it. Let me know if you have any favorites!! I'll post my recipes if I run across any new fun ones. But in the meantime....check out this site: www.pickypalate.blogspot.com. I love this site and am in the mood to make something every time I look at it (which probably isn't a good thing)!!!
